Sometimes I can’t decide if the present
Is really where I want to reside,
Instead of those chosen moments of bliss
Like that serenely exotic day at the beach,
Where my hair were the waves
And my soul was sun-kissed.
I’d love to relive such instants, just once
To bathe in the soothing chuckles of my friends,
Instead, I sit here alone
Scared that if I try to freeze the moments,
They’ll shatter like ice into a million pieces
Or worse, melt away.
But still somehow, these chosen memories
Dare to exist yet still,
As lively as the day they were born
How then does a moment last forever?
It was heart which answered
“Maybe because we stayed.”
