As the fingers land on the keys
And allow the melodies to seize
A sense of escape palpates
From all the melancholy that lays
With each note plunked
A chunk of solace is pumped
From the treble clef to the bass clef
Everything on the music sheet banishes the taste of bereft
Each harmony diving into the pit of the stomach
Causing the soul to vibrate as the chords are struck
Heart dancing as the rhythm beats
Brain pulsing with jingles so sweet
The keys that are black and white
Fill the head with a multitude of colors so bright
There’s nothing I’d rather pour myself out to
For you have always been there, my dear piano
