Released two decades ago, Andaz Apna Apna, starring the Khans of the era, Aamir and Salmaan, paired with the talented and glamorous Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor, and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, was a promising film that spelled success. Astonishingly, the movie failed to perform well in the box office and the filmmakers were puzzled over the lackluster of the movie and the underwhelming response of the audience.

The beauty of cinema is the uncertainty surrounding it. A film which is expected to do well may turn out to be a flop, or a mediocre film may become a blockbuster. It depends on how the film is packaged and presented to the public.

It was later perceived that due to several external factors during the time of release, such as a hit film already in the theatres and low-key promotion, Andaz Apna Apna did not receive the attention of the audience.

From a flop to a cult film, Andaz Apna Apna won the hearts of the public and delighted the audience with refreshing comedy. The impeccable comic timing and the fast-paced plot combined to make the film, is a great example for contemporary comedy. Amar and Prem, Bhalla and Robert, Teja and Crime Master Gogo kept the audience in splits with their misadventures.

I find the film extremely hilarious and have watched it several times. I have yet to meet a person who has watched the film and not liked it. Andaz Apna Apna has forever etched its name in the heart of cinema.
