An Oxymoronic Story – Jasmann Narang

Words.

Lately, the only thing that is running through our minds,

But the only thing we are running

out of these days.

Thoughts,

The one thing that has been going through our heads all day,

Despite the emptiness of our hearts.

Memories,

The only positive thoughts we have,

Although they’re meant to fade away.

Lessons,

The things we’ll take with us,

Just because of the pain they caused.

Self-love,

The one thing we’re taught to embrace,

Making us doubt if it’s even worth it.

Dreams,

The only things we’re taught to chase,

That belongs to everyone but us.

Hope,

The “high” we all chase for happiness,

Yet it’s the thing that takes ours away.

Gratitude,

The feeling we’re told to practice,

Even though it’s required in times that aren’t grateful.

Hatred,

That feeling that we all possess,

Yet it’s the one that makes us aware of our love.

Jealousy,

The feeling we all despise,

Yet the one we have despite.

Heartbreaks,

That pain that we’re all meant to endure,

Yet it’s the only one that makes sense.

Destiny,

The one thing we’re meant to follow

Making us contemplate if we’re truly hollow.

Life,

The only thing we’re meant to live,

Yet we’re doing everything with it except that.
