The Chair
– Deveshi Tandon

I look at the empty chair,

where you once sat.

I still call it your chair,

for it was never just a chair for me.

It was a place where I’d learn of the times before me,

where I learned to live, where I learned to laugh,

where I made my first best friend.

I still remember our first real conversation,

I was a little older than five,

could barely speak but,

 you understood every word.

All my ramblings and tantrums

could always be freely expressed

in that chair.

But now, it has lost its power,

and all it does is make me cry.

  I like this!
