Hormones are essentially chemical messengers that flow through our bloodstream and perform specific functions at specific locations in our bodies. We might not realise this, but they are highly influential and have a profound impact on our mental, physical and emotional health. These hormones are always secreted in balanced amounts, which is the key to maintaining harmony within our bodies. Our metabolism, moods, fertility, sleep, growth, development, sebaceous glands, and several other functions are all primarily governed by these hormones which are released in a balanced and fixed amount by our endocrine glands. However, due to our sedentary lifestyles and irregular dietary patterns, the harmony of these hormones has a liability of getting disturbed. Sometimes glands produce too much or too little hormone, leading to imbalances and disrupting the harmony and rhythm of our body. Many factors can affect how our body creates and releases hormones. While hormonal imbalances do require medical attention, there are some ways in which we can improve our lifestyle, which in turn reduces the probability of disturbing the harmony of our essential body functions.

  • Improving gut health

Eating a diverse range of foods and having a balanced diet improves our gut health. A healthy gut may improve hormonal balance by reducing insulin resistance and beneficially regulating our appetite.

  • Exercising Regularly

Physical activities have a huge impact on the release and production of hormones. Good exercise improves blood flow, and thus increases the reception of food nutrients and hormones. Daily exercise and training help develop strength and regulate hormone levels. This reduces the risk of ailments and improves strength and quality of life.

  • Reducing stress in daily life

Constant stress and tension negatively affect your hormones and disrupts the rhythm of bodily functions. Thus, it is imperative to effectively manage stress to avoid negative influence on hormone production and release. Practising techniques like Yoga, meditation and other calming activities will help control stress. Thus, stress reduction is necessary for a harmonious state of mind and body.

  • Get restorative and sufficient sleep

Poor and insufficient sleep directly impacts hormonal imbalance. 7 hours of quality sleep every night is the ideal duration for hormone balance.

In conclusion, our hormones play a vital role in enabling us to maintain harmony inside our bodies. Only when we have a harmonious and healthy body, will we be able to maximise our living. Therefore, in our quest for peace and harmony, let’s begin by harmonizing our existence and maintaining a healthy body and mind.
